# Store-visit prep — M1 mini setup day (revised 2026-10-19, ~4:30pm)

**Constraints from Sam (authoritative):**
- **No Docker.** All services run natively (Homebrew / native binaries) — same as all our other devices.
- **Mini runs headless** for now (no monitor, no dongle on hand). Prevent sleep with **Amphetamine** ("metaphen") or `caffeinate`/pmset.
- **1TB SSD is still inside her MacBook** — NOT available today (extract → enclosure later).
- **14TB working data is still on the old iMac.**

## Already done from home (pre-visit)
- [x] Live recon of mini: fresh install, FileBrowser :8834 on tunnel, no drives.
- [x] iMac confirmed alive: `https://immich.yellowmellowco.ca` → 200 via Caddy (102k-photo library still serving).
- [x] Business context gathered from yellowmellowclawz.com / yellowmellowco.ca (see 01-brief).

## On arrival — quick checks
- [ ] Mini reachable: `ssh YellowMellow` from SamBook (or on store Wi-Fi, 192.168.2.79).
- [ ] **Find the iMac on her LAN** — from the mini, ARP only showed gateway(.1)/mini(.79)/.120/.166 and no SSH was open on .120/.166. Ask Christy which machine is the iMac / whether it's plugged in at the store.
- [ ] Install Amphetamine (or set `sudo pmset` + `caffeinate -s`) so the headless mini doesn't sleep while we work.
- [ ] Confirm what storage is physically present today (expect: none — 1TB in MacBook, 14TB on iMac).

## Work order (native stack)
1. **Headless stability** — sleep prevention + launch-at-login; verify mini stays up unattended.
2. **Native services** — FileBrowser (already running :8834), Navidrome, TunesPull via Homebrew/launchd. **Immich: confirm with Sam exactly how we run it natively** (no official native server build — decide on site: Homebrew service, bare binaries + launchd plists, or revisit).
3. **Data path for the 14TB + photo library** — pick one:
   - a) **Direct cable iMac ↔ mini at the store** (ethernet/Thunderbolt, direct IPs) + rsync — fastest if iMac is on site.
   - b) Via `immich.yellowmellowco.ca` (public, Cloudflare) — works but slow for 14TB.
   - c) Defer: set up services today, migrate later when 1TB SSD is in its enclosure.
4. **Immich migration** — 102k photos + DB (pg_dump) from iMac → mini.
5. **Christy user** account; backups (DB dump job — the old server's missing piece); verify from her phone on store Wi-Fi.

## Minimum viable win today
Headless mini stable (no sleep) + native services up + **a locked-in data-migration plan** (even if the copy itself happens later). The 256GB internal disk cannot hold media — storage must be resolved.

## Notes
- Mini: hostname `Macmini`, LAN 192.168.2.79, gateway .1. zsh remote shell; Homebrew not in non-interactive PATH (`/opt/homebrew/bin` or `zsh -lc`).
- Old iMac: reachable today via public Immich URL; LAN IP unknown (find on site).
- Store hours: Tue–Sun 11am–6pm, 1084 Queen St W (2nd floor).
