# DaVinci Resolve Cleanup & Organization Plan

## Current Situation Analysis

### LOCAL Locations (MacBook):
- **Main Local Folder**: `/Users/Sam/Sam Storage/DaVinci Resolve/`
  - Contains .drp exports in `Exports/`
  - Contains backup .db files in `Backups/Resolve Project Backups/`

- **Secondary Local Folder**: `/Users/Sam/Sam Storage/Videography/DaVinci/`
  - Contains `ProjectFiles/`, `RecoveredProjects/`, etc.

- **Local Project Library**: `/Users/Sam/Sam Storage/Videography/Resolve Project Library/`
  - Active project: `Resolve Projects/Users/guest/Projects/Recovered_LastNight/Project.db`

### REMOTE Locations (Mac Mini SMB):
- **Remote Main Folder**: `/Volumes/Sam Storage/Videography/Davinci Resolve/`
  - Multiple project libraries: `Resolve Project Library/`, `Resolve Project Library 2/`
  - Backup databases in `Resolve Project Backups/`

## Recommended Cleanup Structure

### Phase 1: Consolidate Backup Databases
```
/Users/Sam/Sam Storage/DaVinci-Resolve-Master/
├── Local-Projects/
│   └── Active-Library/          # Current working projects
├── Remote-Projects/
│   └── Server-Library/          # Synced to remote when connected
├── Backups/
│   ├── Database-Backups/        # All .db.timestamp files organized by date
│   └── Project-Exports/         # All .drp files organized by project name
├── Recovery/
│   └── Found-Databases/         # Temporary folder for recovered .db files
└── Archive/
    └── Old-Projects/            # Completed projects moved here
```

### Phase 2: Automation Scripts
1. **Backup Monitor**: Watch for new .db.timestamp files and organize them
2. **Sync Manager**: Keep local and remote libraries in sync
3. **Export Automation**: Auto-export .drp files when projects change
4. **Cleanup Tool**: Remove duplicate/orphaned databases

## Implementation Steps

### Step 1: Create Master Structure
- Create new organized folder structure
- Move current active projects to appropriate locations

### Step 2: Consolidate Backups
- Gather all .db.timestamp files from both local and remote
- Organize by project UUID and date
- Create inventory of what's available

### Step 3: Set Up Automation
- Node.js scripts to monitor and manage files
- Sync scripts for local/remote coordination
- Backup validation tools

### Step 4: Clean Legacy Folders
- Remove empty/duplicate folders
- Archive old scattered backups
- Update DaVinci Resolve library paths

## Next Steps
1. Do you want to proceed with creating this structure?
2. Should we prioritize certain projects/backups?
3. Any specific automation features you need?
